What is MIDAS?
MIDAS is a 'one-stop shop' for companies and online services needing easy and efficient online access to current and forecast weather information.

What MIDAS Does
MIDAS provides access via the internet to a rich set of meteorological and oceanographic forecasts and reports for easy integration into end-user applications and web services. MIDAS provides a number of simple to use internet-based APIs to support the inclusion of its content:

(i) a simple HTTP-based OGC Web Map Server compliant interface, for easily adding weather maps to a web site
(ii) an XML-based data portal interface for accessing the numerical data, optimised for use over low bandwidth communications links
(iii) an FTP based GRIB interface for those wanting access to forecast data in GRIB format
(iv) a SOAP/WSDL service for those requiring weather data as part of an SOA based solution, or for integration into Microsoft's Virtual Earth
