Midas Weather is a joint venture company (owned by ComSine and Smartcom Software) that grew out of a 3 year European Space Agency funded project to develop a weather information service.

MIDAS is an online data supply service for those application and service developers who require the ability to integrate up-to-date weather and environmental information in their end user products. An overview of the service is illustrated in this diagram (click here).

MIDAS maintains a rolling library of a wide range of meteorological data derived from satellites, forecast models and direct observations (described in more detail here). This library can be accessed by making appropriate calls to the MIDAS data server via its IP-based APIs. In fact integrators have a choice of API to use depending on their specific requirements.

MIDAS provides a 'one-stop shop' for accessing a wide range of data for delivery across both high-bandwidth (terrestrial broadband, UMTS, etc) and low-bandwidth (satcom, GSM, etc.) Internet services.
