Examples of Data Providers storm image

Near real time European-wide weather satellite imagery from Meteosat-8, NOAA AVHRR and Acqua/Terra MODIS. Data from Meteosat-8 (~3 km grid) is updated every six hours; data from other satellites is updated between 2-4 times a day (~1 km grid).

High-resolution (~25 km or 0.2 degree grid) hourly European weather forecast data from Theyr, including wind speed and direction, pressure, cloud cover and precipitation.

Lower-resolution (~50 km or 0.5 degree grid) three-hourly worldwide weather forecast data from NOAA’s GFS, including wind speed and direction, pressure, cloud cover and precipitation.

Forecast daily sea currents for Mediterranean waters (~6 km grid).

Nowcast ocean wind vectors observed by the QuikSCAT satellite (~25 km grid) with 1-2 passes a day.

Sea state (~100 km or 1 x 1.25 degrees grid) three-hourly forecast data from NOAA’s WaveWatch, including wave height, wave direction and swell period.

SYNOP weather reports - A variety of weather and environmental data collected by sensors or human observers from buoys, ships or land stations, ingested every 30 minutes with most reporting stations working on a 3 or 6 hour update cycle.
