Forecast data is available in GRIB Specification format. GRIB is the official WMO standard for interchange of gridded data such as weather forecasts, and is supported by many viewers and chart plotters. This makes it ideal for companies who wish to provide data without a viewing tool, or for companies who already support GRIB format files in their applications.
Note that GRIB is purely for gridded data, so cannot be used for data sets such as satellite imagery, current weather reports, or Quickscat data.
Examples of users of the GRIB format are Omnisat and the ESA catalogue service.
