An OGC OpenGIS Web Map Server interface is available, allowing web sites to be served up with a weather map covering the area they specify and with the weather data displayed that they request. This service is ideal for where you want MIDAS to produce a weather map as an image that you can just drop into your web site.

On your web page you just use standard HTML to include a request for the map you want, specifying the area, time, weather data to display and the type of display, together with the image size and format. The MIDAS Web Map Server then extracts the data from the MIDAS database and renders the image for you, so the finished article just pops up on your web page with no programming required.

The Web Map Server is used in the MIDAS Web Client.
